How are medals made?

medal design

Designing a medal for a sporting event is a painstaking process that requires a combination of creativity and technique. The first step comes from the event organizers, who must determine the theme, design, shape and colors of the medal. It is on the second step that we are involved (we are going to reveal our magic recipe to you 😏). Our designers take care of the graphic design of the medal taking into account the customer's requests. Several medal design proposals are then made to customers. Once validated, we move on to the most important step → the design of the medal.

Manufacture of the medal

Once the custom medal design is approved, it is then used to create a rubber mould. This is used to create medals, mainly in metal, using techniques such as casting, molding or engraving. The medals are then polished and finished to add details such as engravings or ornaments. A design that offers a unique rendering!

It is also possible to create medals, but this time in wood. For manufacturing, it's a completely different technique. The design is first engraved on a wooden board (even on this stage, we can offer different types of wood). The board is then cut to create the shape of the medal, then sanded and finished to add details such as stains or varnishes. Strong point of the wooden medal: ecological and unique. They indeed reflect everything we love in outdoor sports and I must admit that they are often very appreciated by the participants for their natural side.

Finally (yes, that's the home stretch), the medals are checked to make sure they meet quality standards before they are packed and shipped out for delivery to runners at the event.

A short summary ? I'm here for you :

Designing and making a medal for a sporting event is a painstaking process that requires a combination of creativity and technique. Outsourcing the creation of medals is therefore the assurance of having a unique product, of quality and of satisfying all the participants.
